Nuremberg, December 13th, 2018 | Launched in the middle of the year, awarded at the end of the year: As part of the Connected Car Awards, more than 23,000 readers of the German magazines Auto Bild and Computer Bild voted for Mazda Carsharing in the category "New Mobility." The new offer was developed by Mazda together with mobility service provider Choice. The Mazda Carsharing fleet is also integrated into the Flinkster network of Deutsche Bahn.
Both the registration and booking process runs digitally through the Mazda Carsharing App, which impresses with its clear and modern design. Once set up, Mazda Carsharing can be conveniently used via smartphone. This is ensured by a piece of hardware installed in the vehicle, which enables keyless communication between the car and the smartphone. The solution, based on Bluetooth technology, ensures that the use of car-sharing vehicles always works properly even in poor mobile network conditions.
With this installation, Mazda's new mobility service also offers new carsharing users an easy introduction to innovative mobility solutions. The station-based concept is available throughout Germany. With strong location partners such as Lidl and Mazda dealers, the importer manages to carry the offer even further into many areas of the country.
"We are very pleased about this award. This confirms that our fleet of vehicles is visible and that the offer is well received by the users. During development, we have placed a great deal of emphasis on easy handling and flexible pricing and this also seems to be important to customers", says Stefan Kampa, Senior Manager Retail, Fleet and Mobility at Mazda Germany.
For the sixth year, the two trade journals Auto Bild and Computer Bild presented the Connected Car Award. Every year, the best connected-car-services are awarded in ten categories. These categories are Telephone Integration, Mobile Communications, Security, Entertainment, New Mobility, Connected Motorhome, Connected Car "Compact Car", Connected Car "Middle Class", Connected Car "Top Class" and Pioneer Award (special award of the editorial staff). The award ceremony for the Connected Car Award 2018 took place as part of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
