In cooperation with Deutsche Bahn Connect, Mazda and Lidl, we started a really big project. Together with these partners, we want to make carsharing, the sustainable mobility trend, available in all areas of Germany. To achieve this, we will integrate 850 vehicles from Mazda into the carsharing fleet of Flinkster (DB Connect), Germany's leading provider of station-based carsharing.
Launched in the middle of the year, awarded at the end of the year: As part of the Connected Car Awards 2018, more than 23,000 readers of the German magazines Auto Bild and Computer Bild voted for Mazda Carsharing in the category "New Mobility". The two trade journals presented the Connected Car Award for the sixth time. Every year, the best connected-car-services are awarded in ten categories.
The 850 Mazda vehicles are bookable via two different platforms: Mazda enters the national carsharing market as part of the cooperation and now offers its own platform with the Mazda Carsharing app provided by Choice. In addition, Flinkster customers can book the additional cars as usual via the Flinkster app. For this purpose, the IT booking systems of Deutsche Bahn Connect and Choice were linked.
In order to provide the Mazda vehicles at attractive locations for our customers, we work together with various location partners. One of these partners is the supermarket chain Lidl, which provides customer parking spaces exclusively for the carsharing vehicles. Thus, nothing stands in the way of spontaneous, large-scale groceries shopping.
Another location partner is. i Live, the pioneer and innovation leader in micro-living. i Live provides parking spaces exclusively for Mazda Carsharing vehicles at many of its residential complexes.
These cooperations provide a decisive advantage: no public parking space is occupied by the Mazda vehicles.
Successful community-driven carsharing services have made it clear: A close network of relevant operators leads to a successful carsharing model - even in rural areas. In cooperation with DB Connect, Mazda and location partners like Lidl and i Live, we transfer this concept to a commercial context with a comprehensive offer.
All in all, Mazda car sharing becomes a sustainable mobility offer, which, in addition to public transport, represents a real alternative to private vehicle ownership.
